SKIN TAGS
MOST COMMON FORMS

Skin tags (fibroangiomas) are benign skin growths that originate from the dermis and develop outward. They are often the same color as the surrounding skin (normo-pigmented skin tags) or slightly darker (hyperpigmented), and can vary in shape and size. They are generally noticeable, sometimes uncomfortable, and may be considered aesthetically unappealing.
Skin tags usually have a thin stalk compared to the rest of the growth and are shaped similarly to a grain of rice.

They are soft and flexible to the touch, come in various shapes and sizes, and may hang downward due to gravity, which is how they got their name. Skin tags are a very common skin condition that does not cause any symptoms and is not contagious. Normally, skin tags do not recur, although their development is slow and progressive.

Skin tags represent a common and asymptomatic skin condition, although they may occasionally become painful due to trauma or twisting, and can form crusts or bleed.
Over a third of the population is affected by them.
